Job Description
- Primary job responsibilities are to teach our multiple sections of large Introduction to Psychology courses (PSY 101). Teaching load will be four sections of PSY 101 per semester. Teaching courses other than Introduction to Psychology may be part of teaching responsibilities depending on the needs of the Department and the Instructor's expertise.
- Primary job responsibilities are to teach multiple sections of Introduction to Developmental Psychology (PSY 240). Teaching load will be four sections of PSY 240 per semester. Teaching courses other than Introduction to Developmental Psychology may be part of teaching responsibilities depending on the needs of the Department and the Instructor's expertise.
- Primary job responsibilities are to provide support for faculty and students enrolled in our large, multi-section Introduction to Psychology course (PSY 101), including, but not limited to the supervision, training, and coordination of Graduate Teaching Assistants, oversight and coordination of the department's SONA Research Participation System, maintenance of Learning Management Systems such as BbLearn for on-line course materials, and compliance with Departmental and University requirements for the administration and delivery of this course (e.g., attendance, evaluation, communication with students, grading). Teaching sections of Introduction to Psychology may be part of teaching responsibilities, depending on the needs of the Department.
- Primary job responsibilities are to teach multiple sections of the required laboratory components of two required courses for the Psychology Major: Introductory Statistics in Psychology (PSY 230) and Research Methods in Psychology (PSY 302w). The instructor will work closely with Departmental faculty in the design and implementation of lab curricula. The teaching load will be the equivalent of a traditional four course per semester teaching load. Responsibilities will also include other course-related tasks such as maintenance of Learning Management Systems such as BbLearn for on-line course materials, and compliance with Departmental and University requirements for the administration and delivery of this course (e.g., attendance, evaluation, communication with students, grading), and the supervision of Graduate Teaching Assistants assigned to help with grading.
Minimum Qualifications
- A minimum of an MA or MS in Psychology or closely-related field (degree must be conferred by the start date of the position) and one year teaching-related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching Introductory Psychology at the college level as well as substantial evidence of effectiveness in teaching high-enrollment introductory psychology courses; commitment to student success; and experience with blended learning using an learning management platform such as Bb Learn.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching introductory courses in Developmental Psychology at the college level as well as substantial evidence of effectiveness in teaching high-enrollment introductory to Developmental Psychology courses; commitment to student success; and experience with blended learning using a learning management platform such as BbLearn.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience with the coordination activities of large section college courses, including experience administering an online research participation management system such as SONA, as well as evidence of excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience and effective teaching of Introduction to Statistics in Psychology and Research Methods in Psychology at the college level; experience and effectiveness in teaching and mentoring students on important concepts in statistics and research methods, independent student research projects (including the design, implementation, analyses) and research presentation (written, oral, and visual skills); commitment to student success; and experience with learning management platform such as BbLearn, and other key software packages such as SPSS, Excel, MSWord, and MSPowerpoint.

- The 19-person Psychology Department oversees an undergraduate program with about 1200 majors and a terminal masters-level degree program.
