The compassionate transfer of leave (CTL) policy allows NAU benefit-eligible employees to transfer a portion of their accrued vacation hours to eligible employees who are unable to work due to catastrophic illness or injury.
Human Resources in now able to pool donations and hold for future use.
Even one or two hours of donated vacation can make a difference when converted to sick leave for a person in need.
When employees leave the university, only up to one year of accrued vacation can be paid out - the rest is forfeited. Now, however, exiting employees can choose to donate the excess to the CTL pool.
