Job Description

  • The Dental Hygiene Department in the College of Health and Human Services at Northern Arizona University seeks applications for an assistant clinical professor position, for directing students in a clinical educational experience on the Hopi reservation. The position responsibilities include some administrative duties, and didactic classroom teaching as needed in this program. Position is academic year (9month/year) based. Position is available January 2010.

Minimum Qualifications

  • RDH diploma from an accredited US dental hygiene program.
  • B.S. or B.A. degree in dental hygiene or a related field.
  • Equivalent of 3 years fulltime clinical experience in dental hygiene.
  • Eligible for licensure as a dental hygienist in Arizona.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in dental hygiene or a related field preferred.
  • Thorough and current knowledge of dental hygiene practice and education.
  • Competency in all phases of clinical dental hygiene.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated teaching ability in a clinical, one-on-one environment and in the classroom.
  • Adept at problem solving and multi-tasking.
  • Ability to work with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.

Salary

  • $52,000 - $55,000 academic year salary, depending on qualifications and experience.
