Peer to Boss Without the Fallout: How to Create a Smooth Transition from Fellow Employee to New Supervisor will help participants identify common challenges in making this kind of transition to supervisor. Tools and strategies will be explored for clarifying new roles, building new relationships, creating clear boundaries with employees who were once peers, and initiating dialogue when there are problems. Positive Politics: How to Exert Influence Without Losing Your Soul or Shooting Yourself in the Foot will help participants identify workplace decisions that motivate political responses, interaction styles that can be adapted to increase the likelihood of successful communication, how to use power to influence workplace change, and how to reduce the typical kinds of resistance from those around you. Writing Performance Appraisals will outline key principles to help supervisors in synthesizing performance feedback information and writing the final assessment for classified staff and service professional appraisals. Please note: this session is designed for those who have already been introduced to the new appraisal form and process. If you have not yet attended the New Performance Appraisal training, you should do so prior to attending this session. (June 26 or July 8)
