SUMMARY:
 
A Project Manager supervises projects to ensure safety and accuracy.
 
DISTINGUISHNG CHARACTERISTICS:
 
A Project Manager is the first in a two part series.  They typically report to a Project Manager Senior.
 
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
  • Utilizes management and interpersonal skills for professional conduct
  • Successfully manage a moderate to heavy workload of projects requiring technical and practical knowledge; utilize insight; good judgment; good interpersonal and management skills on projects of varying levels of difficulty
  • Establish standards and supervise students, other internal personnel and contractors
  • Coordinates project scope definitions, scheduling, budget preparation, and consultant selection
  • Provide code compliance reviews, reports and recommendations for existing conditions
  • Oversees personnel working on project; engineers, special consultants and contractors
  • Coordinates the interface among all project stakeholders
  • Assists in preparing materials for submission to the Arizona Board of Regents and documentation required by other governmental agencies or governing  board
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to work with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent writing communication skills such as memorandums, project logs, and letter writing
  • Skill in problem solving as it relates to design, budgeting and record keeping.
  • Good interpersonal communication, organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and commitment in completing projects on schedule
  • Flexibility and ability to manage multiple competing priorities
  • Customer service skills with emphasis on helpfulness and diplomacy
  • Attention to detail and record keeping
  • Ability to document policies and procedures
  • Ability to be a team player
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
 
Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in area of assignment.  Required experience can range from 2-5 years, depending on individual position.
