- Do I need to submit an application in order to apply?
Classified Staff and Service Professional positions require a separate application to be submitted to the Human Resources Department for each position.
Faculty and Administrative positions usually do not require an application. These postings indicate materials that are required for specific positions.
- Do I need to submit a separate application for each position that I would like to apply for?
Yes, a separate application needs to be submitted for each individual position for which you wish to apply. Photocopies of an application are acceptable, however, each application must have an original signature and the correct job title and vacancy number.
- Where can I get an application?
You can download the application form by clicking here, picking one up at the Human Resources front desk, or requesting one to be sent to you via postal mail by e-mailing mailto:Human.Resources@nau.edu or by calling the front desk at (928) 523-2223.
- What if I don't have MS Word 97 or Adobe Acrobat?
The two versions of the NAU application that are available for download are Microsoft Word 7.0 1997 and Adobe Acrobat PDF. If you do not have software to run one of these programs you can download a viewer from one of the above mentioned companies. A viewer is a program that will open the application for you and make it available to print at home.
- Where do I submit an application?
You may drop off your application at the Human Resources Department in the Centennial building at 113 W. Dupont, or in the Application Drop Box located next to the Centennial building. You may send your application through the mail to: Department of Human Resources, Box 4113, Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, AZ 86011.
Applications may also be submitted by fax to (928) 523-2220 or by emailing it to Human.Resources@nau.edu. If you submitted a faxed or e-mailed application, you must also submit the original signature page with your original signature to Human Resources. Please indicate on your original application the date that you sent the copy.
- May I leave a copy of my resume on file for future job openings?
Due to the volume of inquiries we receive, we cannot keep resumes on file, and we can only accept applications for positions which are currently open.
- How long after I apply might I be called for an interview?
The time varies depending on the department involved; however, it usually takes 2 - 3 weeks after the closing date on the job to conduct interviews and reach a hiring decision. The department with the job vacancy will notify applicants they wish to interview during this time.
- Do I have to fill out all portions of the application if I attach a resume?
In order to receive full consideration you must completely fill out all sections of the application even if you attach a resume.
- When is my application due?
All applications must be received in the Human Resources Department by midnight of the closing date. Applications received after the closing date will not be considered for the position.
- What does 'Open until further notice' mean?
If an application deadline reads 'Open until further notice' a department is accepting applications until an adequate applicant pool is established. Departments try to provide applicants three days of notice before closing a vacancy; however, the vacancy may close without notice. You should apply as soon as possible after seeing the announcement.
- How often is this information updated?
Job vacancy information on the web is updated daily. Please note that the availability of each position is subject to change at any time.
- When will my references be checked?
Departments can choose to check applicants' references at any time. If you would like special consideration in having an employer contacted, please indicate this in the Additional Information section of the application.
