This guide provides resources to assist in the recruiting and hiring of Faculty as well as some basic guidelines and samples for various components of the process. Specific questions regarding Faculty hires should be directed to the Office of the Provost.
In addition, Human Resources has a library of educational resource material which includes information on hiring practices. For more detailed information on the items available and how to borrow them, visit HR’s Resource Library.
The Faculty Hiring Process is available through the Office of the Provost's website at http://home.nau.edu/provost/faculty_info.asp under Search/Hiring Process. It provides step-by-step procedures from requesting approval for the position through record retention. It also includes a Checklist for Hiring New Faculty/Academic Professionals.
Advertising
A fundamental fact to keep in mind when advertising is to remain consistent with the NAU image and regulations. No one in the advertising business has yet found a substitute for the power of repetition in creating an impression. By running ads that relate to one another in recognizable ways, NAU can reap the benefits of repetition in creating an impression.
Advertising information is available on the Human Resources Web Site. This Web site contains information on mandatory requirements for advertising, such as the use of the NAU logos and the Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Statement, as well as helpful hints for writing effective advertising, publication deadlines and rates, and internet resources.
Forms
Forms necessary to complete the faculty hiring procedures can be downloaded from the Affirmative Action Web site at http://home.nau.edu/diversity/hiring.asp.
Please be aware that photocopies of the forms may be required for distribution purposes (check the bottom of the form for the number of copies required).
