Policy 4.06

Workers' Compensation is a "no-fault" system in which the injured worker receives medical and compensation benefits no matter who caused the job-related illness or injury. Lawsuits against the employer, except under very limited circumstances, are not permitted.

Who is covered
If university employees (including student employees) are injured on the job, regardless of who is at fault, workers' compensation coverage is provided through the State of Arizona Risk Management, Workers' Compensation Section. Coverage applies to all employee groups: full-time, part-time, student workers, benefit-eligible and non-benefit eligible.

What types of injuries are covered
All work-related injuries or illnesses while working as an employee of Northern Arizona University, should be reported to the NAU Human Resources office by means of the Supervisor's Report of Industrial Injury (SRI) form.
