The classified staff and service professional performance appraisal period end date is June 30, 2009. During June and July the following should be happening:
- Supervisors should be establishing due dates for their employees to turn in self appraisals and planning to write final appraisals.
- Employees should be preparing to write their self appraisal and turn in to their supervisor.
- Both employees and supervisors should begin thinking about appraisal goals for the new 2009-2010 appraisal year.
The sooner after June 30 that supervisors write and deliver the final appraisal, the more effective it is as a performance management tool. However, in order to be sensitive to the work flow and timelines of many different departments on campus, the final due date for supervisor appraisals to be turned in to Human Resources is October 31.
Human Resources offers ongoing training on the performance appraisal for those new to NAU or the process. In June and July, two additional topics will be offered for supervisors: Writing And Delivering the Final Appraisal to help close out the 2008-2009 final assessment and Setting Employees Up for Success to help establish goals and performance expectations for the new 2009-2010 appraisal period.
For more information on training and the appraisal process (including sample forms and self appraisal guides) please visit the Performance Management web page. For specific questions about their appraisals, employees and supervisors may contact their Employee Relations team member found on the Human Resources Contact web page.
